Alan attended USC on a presidential scholarship, where he graduated with a B.S. in mathematics summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa. While at USC, he held research positions at MIT, Caltech, and NOAA. Alan is a National
Merit Scholar, a National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellow, and a two-time winner of USC's Zobrist Award for Excellence in Mathematics. In high school, he was a nationally-ranked policy debater and qualified for the Tournament of Champions during his junior year. He was president of USC’s math club and is now studying for a PhD in mathematics at UC Berkeley.
